I'm Dead; May Christ Live in Me

Everything may change
My life may rearrange.

You are my rock,
More dependable than a clock.
My friendships may fade away,
But You are here to stay.

You brought me here today,
And You can take me away.
My life is clay.
The choice of the design
Is not mine.

I'm just clay.
My will is not my own.
My purpose is for Your glory to be shown,
And for that I pray.

I don't know what tomorrow will bring.
I may lose everything,
But no oine can take away,
The words with which I pray.

I surrender my desire
Burn it in Your fire.
Conform me to the image of Your son,
Your only one.

I cry to you as my Father,
You hear me as Your daughter.

Oh what a gift is the cross,
Without I'd be lost.
Help me to count everything a loss
For the sake of that old rugged cross.

Make the cross new in my life
Keep it in the center of my sight.
May it guide me as a light
As I travel down the dark confusing night.

There is only one place to be
And that is right where you want me.
Kneeling before Your face
Wrapped up in Your warm embrace.

I can feel Your presence so near
Casting out all my fear.
Oh Father, you are so good
Help me to live as I should.

Help me to not waste a moment on earth,
Help me to remember Your worth.
I want to get lost gazing in Your eyes
Hearing Your hearts cries.

May I be able to truly give you my only wish
And trust it in your hands.
I don't want to let it go.
What if you say no?

No I can't bear to think,
What if it doesn't come true?
Can I really trust You?

No, no I can't.
My determination isn't strong enough
But You are strong enough to carry my burden.

It is too heavy for my back,
But You have the strength I lack.
You are strong enough to hold me and my mess.
You just want me to confess-- my need for You.

You want to hear me talk to You
Like we used to do.
You remember that girl in high school
Who always felt like a fool.

She never felt like she fit in anywhere,
But You were always there.
You held her tight,
And removed all her fright.

You were there when she moved into a college dorm
She found a friend, who taught her not to conform.
She helped me remove the lies,
That had covered my eyes.

You called me to be an RA,
You were with me everyday.
You called me to speak at chapel on a Sunday night,
You removed all my fright.

You provided for graduate school,
For a girl who thought herself a fool.
You provided every penny.
Debt? Didn't have any.

You've always provided places to live,
You've always put me with those that give.
You've anticipated my every need.
You've been faithful to lead.

Praise! Oh praise your name!
You're still the same.

Sometimes I forget that I am dead,
It doesn't matter what lies ahead.
My life is hidden in You,
I don't have to know what to do.

I just have to stay close to You, my source.
I know you'll point out the right course.
