God put something new in my heart

Go In Peace

I want to be in control
Of my very soul.
Such an aweful sin
But that’s how I feel within.

Dark, dirty, sticky
Oh yes, very icky.
But God I know you can clean
This dirty picture You’ve seen.

So go deep
I’m ready to take a leap.
I just want a new heart,
And a new start.

Please turn this broken vessel
Into something you can use.
I’m tired of the old ways,
These very long days.

Bring your spirit into the room
Cast out the gloom.
Then we will dance
To the rhythm of your heart
For this second chance
And a new start.

“Every day my daughter
Is an opportunity to come to the father.
Lay down all the pride
I paid when I died.

It’s all free now,
So lay all your burdens down.”
Without a sound
I kneel to the ground.

As I rise,
You wipe the tears out of my eyes.

A Giving God

Is it true You own the cattle on a thousand hills?
Will I really be able to pay all the bills?
SometimesI am tempted to commit a crime
To just earn one more dime.

Then I hear You say
In a most powerful way:

“Instead of commiting a crime
Just give me your dime.
Right before Your eyes I’ll make it multiply
You will have no reason to cry.

I tell you what I’ll do
I’ll make your wildest dreams come true.
I want to do this for you
That is how much I love you.”

I Lay It All Down

I want to be there
And not here.
Do you care?
Do you hear?

Sometimes I think I am going to sob
Because I want a job.
I want to drive
And not be stuck in this bee hive.

You are the queen bee
I am making honey for thee.
No matter what I do
I am doing it for you.

I am waiting
And not hating.
I am waiting for You
To show me the next thing to do.

No matter what that is
I know I am His.
I remember that I am not alone
And His power will be shown.

I lay my desire
Down in Your fire.
I am willing to let it burn
Because I want to learn.

I will be still
And follow Your will.
Once again I lay it all down
Including my frown.

I admit I don’t understand
But I refuse to let go of Your hand.
You give me strength to run
Beneath a burning sun.

You give me the words to say
When I have lost my way.
You put joy in me
That everyone can see.

You gave me a mind
And the will to be kind.
You have me eyes to see
What an awesome God You will always be.

A True Friend

There is nothing you can do

The Way

Today I may not know
The way to go.
But I will always know
Where I will one day go.

When I look into Your eyes
My fear instantly dies.

Your Armor

I’ve got Your helmet on my head

Fragile Child

I know you are a fragile child.
I know it is easy to make you cry
Even if you don’t know why.
I know your emotions run wild.

I know you are easy to break
But not easy to make.
I know it is easy to make tears run down your face
And you often feel out of place.

But there is something I want to give you
It will make you new.
I will put it inside of you
It will help you no matter what you do.

It is called faith.
It will make you strong
All year long.

It will stay inside of you,
And help you know what is true.
Amazing things you will see;
You will know me.

And keep you safe from the devil.

More Powerful Than I

I am so dehydrated I can barely stand
And then comes a cloud the size of a hand.
You think I would be grateful
But instead I am hateful.

It just can’t rain.
I angrily complain.
My worst fear
Is coming near.

The drops fall
And I no longer feel tall.
As I look bitterly at the sky
I am reminded that someone is stronger than I
And that makes me cry.

I want to be the best
Far above the rest,
But I have to say
God did not make me that way.

Without rain the ground becomes dry
And plants slowly die.
But why? I say.
Why does it have to be that way?

God says,
“Some things are too heavy for you to know.
Sometimes you have to let go.”

2009 and the State of My Heart

Sometimes I trust money more than you
I’m so ashamed to say it’s true.
I forget that You can provide
And I hide.

I hide from your arms of love
I hide from those I know
I’m so afraid to show
What I’m really made of.

Dirt and water
Oh father
You made this body out of nothing,
Then why do I value worthless idols?

Why don’t I trust you?
Because You’ve always come through.
I have countless stories
Of how you have sent the stranger
To help me not to worry
Just like you sent the manger.

Oh Father, may I worship You
Like I want to.
You have been so very good
And one thing I know
I don’t deserve it.

My faith is very weak.
I have yet to develop the confidence I seek
So I’m chasing forward towards the kingdom.
I’m running towards freedom.
Capture my heart again
Show me what holds real value.

Snow

The snow comes down,
And falls to the ground.
It is so white,
And so bright.

God makes my heart as while as snow
This fact I know.
It is fun to sled
And get hit in the head.

I love to watch it fall
It reminds me of God’s call.
I need to be pure white
In a world as dark as night.

If You

If you hear someone cry,
Pray that their flesh would die.
If you hear someone complain,
Pray that My joy would reign.
If you see a smile on someone’s face
It means that I have given them extra grace.
